We’ve all been there, right? You’re all set to make needed improvements to your home when the looming decision comes: “What style gutters should we have installed?” Your evening is consumed, your dinner is burned, and it seems there’s no way out of the endless tunnel of gutter charts.
OK maybe we haven’t all been there, but choosing a gutter style is a decision homeowners must one day face. To expedite this process, let’s take a look at the main gutter styles (with the help of the infographic below).
Fascia Gutters (top row of graphic)
Fascia gutters are a common and classic style for those looking for simple, elegant protection. Fascia gutters come in 3 different options: 5-inch, 5-inch curved, and 7-inch. These measurements refer to the height of the gutters, with the main distinguishing factor being that the 7-inch option has 2 small indented lines running the length of the gutter rather than one. The 5-inch curved option is fairly self-explanatory: rather than a straight face, this style curves slightly for a smooth and elegant look.
O.G. (“Old Gothic”) Gutters
Pictured at the bottom left of our handy diagram, O.G. gutters have a bit more curvature to them for that, you guessed it, old Gothic style. This particular style extends either 5 or 6 inches off your home, depending on your needs. While fascia styles tend to have a narrower width and greater height, O.G. gutters are the opposite, with less height but greater extension off of your roof.
Box-Bottom Gutters
This brings us to our final style: Box-Bottom gutters. This style boasts the same height and width as 5-inch fascia, but with an angular face for a neat and dignified appearance.
